A NEMA 4X rating means the enclosure has been rigorously tested to ensure optimum performance in outdoor use and offers a superior level of protection against corrosion and extreme conditions. A NEMA 4X rating makes nVent HOFFMAN VM Valox® series enclosures perfect for a variety of applications.

Bases and opaque covers are made from VM Valox® 357U, a thermoplastic polyester resin that has high strength, flame retardancy, and chemical resistance. With outstanding physical and electrical properties, it’s ideal for housing electrical components. VM Valox® 357U can withstand continuous temperatures up to 280 degrees Fahrenheit, or 138 degrees Celsius.

For applications that demand the utmost protection from surrounding conditions but require visual access to the equipment contained within the enclosure, transparent covers are available. These covers are made from clear polycarbonate, which is easy to see through and simple to clean. Robust and stiff, they can withstand continuous temperatures from -13 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit or -25 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius.

Custom Electrical Enclosure Systems

If you frequently buy standard electrical enclosures and boxes, you know many options are available. However, standard or off-the-shelf products aren’t always best. nVent HOFFMAN offers a full suite of services developed to help clients obtain the right electrical enclosure system for their application.

  • UL 508A
  • Holes and cutouts
  • Printing
  • Painting

Additional cutouts, holes, and tapped holes can improve application versatility and performance. Standard enclosures don’t always have the required amount of cutouts or holes, or those features are located in the wrong place.

Another common modification is special paints and finishes, which can be beneficial for branding purposes. Standard enclosures tend to be basic gray colors that blend into their surroundings and go unnoticed. Make your enclosure stand out with custom paint options and finishes from nVent HOFFMAN.
